Heather has been married for 26 years and has two children and has enjoyed calling Edenton, NC home.  She has been Specializing in conventional real estate transactions, and has worked as a licensed United Country agent for over 11 years.

Prior to that, Heather was a Marketing and Customer Representative for Albemarle Plantation, a local gated, water-access and golf community. With an expertise of waterfront, water access and residential property, Heather is a strong communicator with the ability to connect with clients.

In addition, Heather has enjoyed helping Coast Guard families transition to the local base for the past 11 years.  She enjoys helping these families get acclimated, adjusted and transitioned even after the transaction and has gained many new friends over these past few years!

     Jake Forbes has been a licensed Real Estate Broker since 2006 and serves all of Northeastern NC.  Jake purchased a United Country Franchise in 2009 and opened an office in Hertford, NC where he also lives with his wife and son.  Jake grew up in the auction business and obtained his NC Auctioneer License in 1995.

Maryann Whisman comes from Pennsylvania where she raised her family of four children. While in Pennsylvania she had a background in Sales and Marketing. She came to Hertfod, North Carolina years ago with her husband. They loved the area and they built a home in Albemarle Plantation. Melinda Porter BROKER

     Melinda Porter grew up in the Hoke County North Carolina in a military family as her father was stationed at Fort Bragg.  She moved to Washington County North Carolina 35 years ago and currently resides on the Albemarle Sound.  Melinda and her husband Jeff raised their son Jim in Plymouth and own multiple rental properties in the area.  

     Melinda obtained her real estate licensed in 2017 and enjoys working with buyers and sellers throughout Northeastern NC.  Her vast experience investing in real estate combined with her knowledge of the area makes her an ideal agent to work with.

     Karen moved to Hertford, NC in 2019 after years working in Human Resources in the Health Care Industry.  Her husband Ray's parents were originally from Hertford and he grew up in Northeastern NC.  Karen is from Lancaster, VA and she says Northeastern NC reminds her of home.  

Chasity Pailin Broker

Being born and raised in Edenton NC gave me the sweet hometown upbringing that has allowed me to have a close knit family and reach for my dreams, :southern style". I grew up with much love and support from a single parent home. I was blessed at an early age to share the love of my family with my own child. Nine years later I was blessed with a second child. Although I was young, I remained focused and went on to obtain a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Elizabeth City State University and then a Masters in Business Administration from Strayer University. Throughout the years my determination to provide for my family gave me the opportunity to work in many career fields. Before my real estate journey I received a North Carolina Assisted Living Administrator license and worked as an Administrator with Affinity Living Group. I then went on to Washington Regional Medical Center as the Director of Registration. Then the world changed and COVID gave me a new perspective on life and I wanted to do something different. I secured employment with Elizabeth City State University working in the Title III federal funds department as I worked towards obtaining my real estate license. The last year has been challenging, however with strong faith and determination I was able to obtain my real estate license in early 2023. I am excited to start this journey as a real estate broker with United Country Forbes Realty and Auctions LLC.

Susan Haydon Broker

Susan Haydon moved to Albemarle Plantation from Weems, VA where she worked as a real

estate agent with Shaheen, Ruth, Martin and Fonville. She was a top seller (over 4 million in

sales) before moving to North Carolina to get closer to her son and grandson in Florida. She

found this location after searching the East Coast which immediately reminded her of the

Northern Neck, with the rural laid back lifestyle and plenty of water surrounding the area.

Prior to starting her real estate career, she retired after 33 years with Dominion Energy as a

Senior Project Designer in residential, commercial and large industrial projects. There she was

responsible for designing utilities for residential and commercial projects and managing them

to completion. Her previous duties included researching land rights, easements and meeting

construction deadlines, while working directly with contractors, developers and homeowners.

These skills provided an excellent foundation in building a real estate career.

Susan’s hobbies include her love of playing pickleball, making custom draperies and working

part time for an upscale interior design retail store.

She is a member of the Albemarle Area Association of Realtors and attends Harbor

Presbyterian Church.
